The INCLAVI Training Curriculum Take s Shape

In line with the INCLAVI Workplan, Haaga-Helia, the project’s lead partner, initiated the INCLAVI Curriculum preparation in February 2024, a process in which all the consortium members are engaged in developing training content.

In a significant development for the aviation industry, the INCLAVI project has begun shaping its innovative training curriculum focused on improving services for travelers with disabilities. Led by Haaga-Helia, the consortium launched the curriculum preparation phase in February 2024, bringing together industry experts and educational institutions in a collaborative effort.

A Multi-Tiered Approach to Accessibility Training

The ambitious program will deliver 40 specialized training modules through both a web-based Learning Management System (LMS) and a mobile application. The curriculum adopts a tiered approach with basic, intermediate, and advanced learning paths tailored to different roles within the aviation sector, from frontline staff to management personnel and students in higher education.

“This isn’t just another training program,” explains a project spokesperson Namrata Sethi. “It’s a comprehensive framework built directly from the experiences of travelers with disabilities who have highlighted critical gaps in current service delivery.”

The curriculum covers essential topics including legal requirements, accessibility standards, and universal design principles. What sets INCLAVI apart is its foundation in real-world insights, gathered through extensive interviews with industry leaders and accessibility experts.

From Real-World Experience to Practical Solutions

A key strength of the program lies in its collection of best practices from airlines and airports that have demonstrated exceptional customer service at crucial interaction points throughout the passenger journey. These practical examples provide valuable learning opportunities for staff seeking to enhance their skills in supporting travelers with disabilities.

The first demonstration modules are scheduled for pilot testing this autumn. During this carefully managed assessment phase, learners will evaluate the content’s accessibility, attractiveness, and practical applicability. Meanwhile, industry experts will review the material to ensure it meets regulatory requirements and professional standards.

By prioritizing the voices and experiences of travelers with disabilities in its development process, INCLAVI aims to create a transformative educational resource that could significantly improve the air travel experience for millions of passengers worldwide. You can read our latest newsletter by clicking this link.
