Consortium partners gather in Madrid to advance revolutionary aviation accessibility training. The milestone meeting establishes crucial framework for curriculum development and international certification.
The INCLAVI project marked a significant milestone this April with its interim meeting hosted at the IATA Madrid Office. All consortium members gathered for this pivotal event, highlighting the project’s collaborative spirit and shared commitment to improving aviation accessibility training.
The meeting centered on reviewing the comprehensive interim report, which documented the project’s achievements to date and established a clear roadmap for future development phases.
Work Package 3 (WP3), focused on curriculum development, emerged as a central topic during the discussions. Consortium partners reviewed progress on the first five training modules and outlined strategies for their continued development.
“These initial modules represent the foundation of our entire curriculum,” noted a project representative Namrata Sethi. “The collaborative approach has allowed us to incorporate diverse perspectives and expertise into the training materials”, she continues.
The meeting established specific methodologies for developing and delivering these modules through a dedicated Learning Management System (LMS). Yasar University was identified as a key partner in the final curriculum delivery, leveraging their educational technology expertise to ensure effective implementation.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussions about selecting an appropriate certification body for the INCLAVI curriculum—a critical decision that will establish the program’s credibility and international recognition.
“The certification process isn’t just about meeting standards; it’s about ensuring this training truly transforms service delivery for travelers with disabilities,” explained a participating consortium member.
Partners engaged in thorough deliberations regarding potential certification partners, carefully weighing the implications of each option to make an informed decision aligned with the project’s long-term objectives.
Another focal point was the development of a comprehensive best practices deliverable, designed to document effective strategies that will enhance the curriculum’s practical value. This collection of proven approaches will ensure the training program reflects real-world solutions to accessibility challenges in aviation.
By incorporating these best practices, the INCLAVI curriculum aims to provide aviation professionals with practical, applicable knowledge that can be immediately implemented to improve passenger experiences.
The Madrid interim meeting solidified the consortium’s unified vision and collaborative approach. As the INCLAVI project progresses, the strategic decisions made during this gathering will significantly influence the development of a curriculum that balances innovation with practical effectiveness.
Through rigorous certification, thoughtful module development, and best practices integration, the INCLAVI project continues to advance toward its goal of transforming accessibility training in the aviation industry—ultimately creating more inclusive air travel experiences for persons with disabilities worldwide.
