The Erasmus+ funded INCLAVI project has published its core deliverables, marking a significant milestone in its mission to make air travel more accessible for people with disabilities.
Coordinated by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, the international consortium has developed a comprehensive training curriculum that addresses critical gaps in aviation staff education. The curriculum focuses on raising awareness about different types of disabilities and improving the entire customer journey for passengers with specific access requirements.
Key deliverables include educational modules, training materials, and best practice guidelines developed through extensive collaboration between academic institutions, industry leaders like IATA and Istanbul Grand Airport, and disability organizations. These resources provide practical solutions to the knowledge gaps identified by Project Manager Namrata Sethi and Senior Lecturer Ivan Berazhny.
“Rather than proposing physical changes to aircraft, which face rigorous safety regulations, we’ve focused on educational materials that can make an immediate difference in passenger experience,” Berazhny explained.
The consortium recently showcased these deliverables at the IATA World Operations Conference in Rome, where industry stakeholders expressed significant interest in implementing the training resources.
