The INCLAVI project has unveiled its ambitious mission to position air transport as the leader in accessibility and disability-inclusive development within the transportation sector. With the powerful slogan “Freedom Belongs to Everyone,” the initiative focuses on driving change through education, training, and knowledge sharing.

Since September 2022, INCLAVI has been working to address critical skills gaps in the aviation industry related to ensuring freedom of movement for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and meeting accessibility requirements.

“The main goal of the project is to develop a curriculum, as well as training materials for aviation personnel to ensure and enhance their knowledge, competencies, and skills necessary in the service of PwD and special needs,” explains Namrata Sethi, Project Manager for INCLAVI.

Aligning with International Standards and EU Strategy

The project aligns with The Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030, tackling diverse challenges faced by PwD. It aims to advance all areas of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at both EU and Member State levels.

This initiative responds directly to the need for simplifying the travel journey for all passengers, regardless of their disabilities or special conditions. Co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, INCLAVI brings together key global industry and labor market stakeholders with a consortium of world-class Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) organizations.

“One of the main pillars of this project is to pilot within the next three years selected curriculum modules with thousands of learners across several occupational groups in the aviation industry, as well as aviation and tourism students,” says Ivan Berazhny, Senior Lecturer involved with the project.

Through its comprehensive approach combining industry expertise, academic knowledge, and practical training, INCLAVI seeks to transform how the aviation sector approaches accessibility—making the freedom of movement truly accessible to everyone.

The project emphasizes core values of respect, dignity, and inclusivity as it works to position air transport at the forefront of accessibility innovation in the broader transportation landscape. You can read our latest newsletter by clicking this link.
